The music of 17th-century Portugal includes many still undiscovered masterpieces, and this CD presents several of these for the first time, including the magnificent six-voice Missa Paradisi portas by Manuel Cardoso. Owen Rees is at the forefront of research and performance of early Portuguese and Spanish music. He here embarks on the first recording of such repertory with the Choir of The Queen’s College, Oxford.
